AM I MY BROTHER'S KEEPER? - THE NEED FOR NEIGHBOURLINESS

AM I MY BROTHER'S KEEPER? - THE NEED FOR NEIGHBOURLINESS The above statement is an excerpt from the Bible, where after slaying his brother out of jealousy Cain rather rudely responds to the Lord knowing fully well what he had done. The scripture is; Genesis 4:9 KJV [9] And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? The thought that comes to mind on processing that response is "really now Cain?? Fast forward to this present moment and ask ourselves Cain's question specifically and explicitly without rhetoric, am I my brother's keeper? If the world is to be a better place our answer to that question should be a resounding unequivocal yes! No one is an island no matter how capable because as people we work with other people, through other people and for other people. Therefore it is important to be concerned about the next person's well being lest we fail to get the cooperation and collaboratio

WHAT SERVICE PACKAGE DO YOU GIVE YOUR EMPLOYER IN WORK QUALITY? - EXCELLENCE ON DEMAND OR EXCELLENCE UNLIMITED PREMIUM?

WHAT SERVICE PACKAGE DO YOU GIVE YOUR EMPLOYER IN WORK QUALITY? - EXCELLENCE ON DEMAND OR EXCELLENCE UNLIMITED PREMIUM? We live in an era of packages by service providers, some access is only available on demand whilst some is unlimited depending on what the consumer or customer opts for. Some packages come with bundles of freebies as sweeteners to outdo the competition. Good examples are telecommunications, satellite television and internet service providers. We can take the above example to use as analogy in assessing our own performance as hired parties to employment contracts. It is easily forgettable in the minds of many of us as employees that the employer is a client of ours and consumer of our services which we sign for on the employment contract. So just as we expect to enjoy excellent service as value for our money from service providers, it is only befitting for our employer to expect excellent service from us as individual employees or collectively depending on the n

WHEN THE SALVO COMES YOUR WAY AT WORK - DON'T DUCK OR DIVE, IT'S SCATHING BUT NEVER FATAL

WHEN THE SALVO COMES YOUR WAY AT WORK - DON'T DUCK IT'S SCATHING BUT NEVER FATAL Some days in the workplace can just spiral out of control due to misunderstanding of our creation or by other parties, regardless of who is  responsible  as a matter of fact the salvo may just come your way blazing and scathing like that. Everybody loses their heads and tempers flare, exchanges of threats and insults fill the air, fingers point and when they point at you as the one responsible for the obtaining situation gone out of hand what do you do? Do you duck? Do you dive? Do you shift blame and find a scapegoat? As a responsible individual who understands that the only person whose control and conviction you have is yourself you do none of those things because they will certainly be met with resistance and backlash at some point. As living beings our default setting is to defend ourselves when attacked or backed into a corner, as such if one ducks in the firing line then the missil

HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO GO & GIVE OF YOURSELF FOR YOUR DREAM, YOUR ONE THING?

HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO GO  & GIVE OF YOURSELF FOR YOUR DREAM, YOUR ONE THING? Every worthy achievement, I mean worthy by any standard, comes at a cost in one form or another, the cost may be so high that it literally becomes sacrifice. It is natural for us to wince and tighten up at the mere mention of the word "sacrifice" because sacrifice is never easy, it takes us out of our comfort zone. Sacrifice discards convenience, it cuts away all the frills and leaves necessity with clear demands and requisites for the realisation of particular ends. Sacrifice is in the means to achieving specific ends, desired results are always glorious when achieved and show no sign of sacrifice at face value. For the reason that positive results are glorious, often coming with pomp and fanfare it becomes hard to convince onlookers that the same glorious and celebrated victories are the result of untold sacrifice and austerity of one kind or another. However the truth and facts

WHEN THE BURDEN SEEMS TOO HEAVY IN BUSINESS & IN DAILY LIVING, REMEMBER THIS - CHANGE IS GUARANTEED FOR EVERY SITUATION!

WHEN THE BURDEN SEEMS TOO HEAVY IN BUSINESS & IN DAILY LIVING, REMEMBER THIS - CHANGE IS GUARANTEED FOR EVERY SITUATION! Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5 KJV. Sometimes weeping, distress and suffering overwhelm us to the point of blurring our vision or blinding us altogether from looking ahead with hope. The situation gets desperate and we feel helpless and nearly hopeless. However as the scripture quoted above, we are encouraged and strengthened by the acknowledgement that yes suffering may be encountered, not only that but it may endure that is to say it may drag on and be drawn out for a while. The scripture goes on to say BUT, joy comes in the morning. Therein lies our message and lesson. Joy comes in the morning, yes, after that grueling, seemingly unending  ordeal we get to experience new happiness and get over the gloomy feelings of sadness and pain. In day-to-day living, it is not a question of if difficult situations wi

DO WE REALISE THE DISGUISED OPPORTUNITY OF ADDING VALUE & UTILITY AS CONSUMERS OF GOODS & SERVICES? - LODGING COMPLAINTS & CLAIMS

DO WE REALISE THE DISGUISED OPPORTUNITY OF ADDING VALUE & UTILITY AS CONSUMERS OF GOODS AND SERVICES? - LODGING CLAIMS & COMPLAINTS "The customer is king", "the client is always right..." These are common cliches in the business of dealing with clients and customers. They are premised on retaining a client even in the worst case scenario where the client is seriously aggrieved about the service rendered to them or the quality of goods consumed and rightfully so because the clients part with their valuable and in most instances hard earned money for goods and services daily. However there is another angle and twist to the customer services situation which many a consumer misses, we are HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL STAKEHOLDERS in the business equation. This is contrary to the popular belief of being powerless vulnerable victims of corporate greed and disregard for the little ordinary person on the street. There is hidden opportunity in every consumer complaint s

WHY EVERY TASK AT WORK MATTERS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE BOSS SAYS IT IS - DO IT WELL!

WHY EVERY TASK AT WORK MATTERS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE BOSS SAYS IT IS - DO IT WELL! It's very common to have one's boss come up and say something like "hey so and so, I have a very small task for you..." Uhm okay BUT truth is no task is too small or trivial, if its a task then it's work and if it's work we go for it guns blazing no exception, we go for the jugular right away! It's your low-hanging fruit, a chance to exercise your swing, hit it with a big stick and complete it in record time. We get appraised all the time in the workplace every second of time spent in the employer's premises during the employer's time has a bearing on the result of our appraisal hence the need to bring our "A" game  to the work situation always. There are mundane routine tasks which feel like a grind and are so boring that given a choice we would avoid altogether or pass over to somebody else, if we couldn't pass them over we push to the back

HOW PASSIONATE & INTERESTED ARE WE WHEN WE RISE UP DAILY TO DO WHAT MUST BE DONE MEETING OUR RESPONSIBILITIES?

HOW PASSIONATE & INTERESTED ARE WE WHEN WE RISE UP DAILY TO DO WHAT MUST BE DONE MEETING OUR RESPONSIBILITIES? Passion and interest are two major determining factors in the quality and rate of delivering results in a manner of direct proportion. The more passion and interest we bring to our work and responsibilities results in more frequent results of better quality each time we get down to business. These are two inherent personality traits which will only bear fruit and results by individual choice and decision, passion just like interest must ensue from one's conviction to follow a particular course of action. It cannot be wished upon a person to be interested in a task at hand, neither can an individual be coerced into being passionate about one's work. Indifference, laziness and arrogance are common vices whose traits we exhibit as people when we are called upon to cooperate with others who depend on our contribution and work input. These traits stifle progress
