AFRICA DAY! NKOSI SIKELEL' IAFRICA - GOD BLESS AFRICA!

AFRICA DAY! WE CELEBRATE NKOSI SIKELEL' IAFRICA!

Africa day! Once again we commemorate and celebrate this great day of all things African. 1963 in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa a country on the mighty red sea, the Organisation of African Unity was
formed to foster cooperation among African countries and eliminate colonialism on the continent. Of these two goals the latter was realised whilst the former is ongoing and great milestones have been reached thus far.

The Organisation of African Unity aka the OAU matured in 2002 and became the African Union.
This is the epitome and greatest platform of the African Agenda mainly in the diplomatic and political scheme of things as it is the responsibility of member heads of states and governments working with appointed diplomats, envoys and their employees and partners.

It is where the fathers and mothers meet to deliberate, debate and chart the way forward for our beloved continent tackling Africa's problems and finding solutions.
Today we celebrate Africa from Cape to Cairo enjoying the unity in diversity we have as a people and continent.
Africa our land endowed with tracts of beautiful landscapes, mountains, rivers, deserts, tropical rainforests and home to many great animal species big and small.
Underneath the land are many deposits of precious minerals and fossil fuels, above the land are beautiful sunny blue skies beaming loads of solar energy onto mother Africa for her to harness and use to feed her children.

We sing together "Nkosi sikelel' iAfrica" God bless Africa, with pride and joy in our hearts as one people who call Africa our home. We the children of mother Africa celebrate her today.

We salute the heroes and heroines of the African struggles for independence today both the living and fallen ones who bequeathed  to us these liberated nations free from colonisation enjoying independence and sovereignty.
The founding fathers cooperated and collaborated in their efforts to liberate Africa hosting each other's people as the need arose during the struggles for independence, they worked as brothers with one accord and they achieved success, sadly in this generation we see xenophobic elements amongst us who resort to killing and burning fellow African brothers and sisters in the face of disputes and misunderstandings. Surely the fallen heroes must be turning in their graves as their descendants necklace and hack one another to death with machetes, such behaviour flies in the face of all they stood for, fought and died for.
Let's introspect brothers and sisters, dialogue is better than destruction and violence. We are one people and therefore tolerance is called for in our interactions.

On this occasion of Africa day let us stand together as Africans and celebrate that we are one, we are a great people with an identity and pride ourselves in our brotherhood and sisterhood.
Let us celebrate and continue to cooperate and collaborate moving Africa forward.

Nkosi sikelel' iAfrica! God bless Africa!
