WHAT WE ALL OWE OUR CHILDREN AND FUTURE GENERATIONS AS WE USHER IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & ASSOCIATED TECHNOLOGIES

We are doing things that once upon a time were unthinkable, things our forefathers never dreamed of, things our fathers had to be daring to even contemplate, we are growing and advancing. Still, what's cutting edge to us today will be obsolete and archaic to the coming generations.
Our human consciousness and self awareness is the constant throughout the ages. We relate to our past and reflect on where we want to go, with the passage of time we learn better ways of doing things, discover new materials and nature's gifts to live better and become better.
We are advancing rapidly and making great strides into  using artificial intelligence and autonomous equipment. Self driving cars, robot run hotels, space travel and many amazing novelties are witnessed everyday. The fourth industrial revolution ensues and exponentially growing human creativity is unleashed pushing the boundaries and breaking records.
However it is important to grasp that big responsibility comes with the great abilities and new technologies at our disposal which we have created and are constantly refining.
We are all responsible for our actions and owe it to our children and future generations to ensure that they find the world a better place, conducive, habitable and well preserved notwithstanding the positive technological advancements we are making everyday.
It is a fact that we do not all subscribe to the same religious, ethical or moral codes but we all want the best for our loved ones especially our children who are naturally vulnerable in their formative years and deserve conducive safe environments to thrive into productive, responsible and accountable adults themselves.
As we grow older and slow down ushering in new generations we should watch with love, admiration, pride and satisfaction as they take technology to new levels as we are doing now to the awe of our predecessors.
Any recklessness on our part as we develop new technologies and tap into nature's gifts and resources will hurt our children and following generations, we would be handing them a poisoned chalice.
As human beings they will naturally make their own mistakes and have to correct them therefore we can spare them the ordeals of correcting their mistakes compounded by ours if we work responsibly with not only our future but theirs in mind as well.
In all that we do we can play a part in shaping the future we want for ourselves and to bequeath to the coming generations by consciously reminding ourselves that it is not only about us but a relay which at some point will  require us  to hand over the baton. Our responsible and accountable actions will go a long way in this regard.
Since it is not by their choice to be in this world but by our making as parents, we do owe it to them. Harming the environment is harming them, catastrophic disasters of the past serve as lessons and testimony to this. We ought to be responsible in our scientific research and innovation work and in the downstream as consumers of scientific research products and services in their various forms ought to be equally vigilant.
