The level of passion and real, direct interest in what we do forms the DNA and signature to our work. Though intangible and invisible in the physical realm of things it is recognisable and powerful, it can be felt and perceived in the form of vibes and energy around us as we go about doing what we do.

Passion and intrinsic interest in one's tasks and activities trumps accumulated credentials and experience tainted by complacency
and cockiness any day! It is being present in every situation not only physically but emotionally and mentally as well maintaining focus, being alive to it and sustaining the requisite energy levels to see the task at hand through successfully.

Ever experienced a scenario where a situation or anonymous document was being analysed and somebody remarks "this has so-and-so written all over it!"?  Exactly!! How does that happen? - it's that invisible and intangible yet recognisable DNA and signature peculiarities that distinguish us no matter how much we subscribe and conform uniformly to codes and creeds professionally and in other forums.

One therefore feels the urge to write and highlight this especially to the young folk in the formative stages of their careers, If a career path has been chosen and signed up for, one ought to make up their mind and settle it in one's heart that it is their life's passion, at least career wise. This means one consciously decides to care deeply, believe in and sweat for the chosen passion and line of work or calling as it were if the passion is intense enough for one to view their job as such.

Normally for college students there is a mandatory period of time which they must spend in a real work set up relevant to their program of study, where I come from it's called industrial attachment. A lot of young college folk miss this wonderful opportunity by marking time rather than applying themselves fully without fear of making mistakes because of the leniency which attachés are treated with, the level of scrutiny is less and there is no pressure to perform compared to an individual working with substantive capacity.

Industrial attachment is an opportunity to shine and be the best one can be, explore one's creativity putting one's best foot forward everyday without exception. One can make themselves so useful and unforgettable in an organisation whilst on attachment so much that they are explicitly guaranteed of work upon graduation by the executives of that particular organisation all because of the DNA and signature work.

One successful businessperson and entrepreneur being interviewed about recruitment and selection said " I hire for passion more than skills an individual has because skills can be taught and transferred but without passion you have nothing!"  Oh boy were they right!

 What makes our work and modus operandi form our professional DNA is the element of continuity, every task that we take no matter how small or our response to the particular task contributes and records automatically on our profile.
 In light of this therefore we ought to be conscious of this in all that we do because one literally never knows who is watching. As much as one may argue that they don't do it for the onlookers, the fact is that in the world of work references and recommendations come from the onlookers!

The question that remains for all us today is this; How does our DNA and work signature look? We will be remembered by it after we move on from where we are today and it will precede us wherever we go.
