LEADERSHIP; WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER FEEL ALONE THROUGH CHALLENGES AND CONTROVERSY AS A LEADER

No matter how good a leader one is, troubles and challenges are guaranteed to come one's way along the course of leadership. This is due to the varying and in some instances competing schools of thought out there and belief systems. So anticipating challenge and controversy is good strategic thinking on every leader's part.

Every leader who is authentic and democratic gets buy in and voluntary following of those who share a common vision and ideology with them. This literally makes the leader the face of the group as well as it's voice.

However when the inevitable happens and challenges come one's way sometimes leaders feel attacked as individuals and faced with mountains to move alone. This can be disheartening and devastating.
It is under such circumstances that as a leader one must realise that as  somebody once said
"Though he may battle alone, he fights with the strength of many"

The followers with vested faith and trust in the leader give their strength and support in solidarity with the leader who may seem to be lonely and battling alone. It is imperative to draw upon that strength and conjure up will power to forge ahead advancing the collective cause realising that one is never entirely alone.

Quite often as a leader one gets distressed and finds themselves on the verge of quitting or contemplating giving up and giving in to challenges which threaten to run over the leader and the cause. However this power of many, the people rooting for their leader, throwing their faith and hopes behind them cannot and should never be underestimated especially by the leader.

For the sake of the common cause and those who believe in us we dig deeper and find reason to go on and surmount even the most stubborn of obstacles. To be chosen as a leader is never to be taken for granted, it is a vote of confidence and trust in one's capabilities. Sometimes this confidence and trust is based on reputation and track record however the real test and proof of character in the leadership role comes with challenges and controversies of the current situation.
It is by sticking it out, devising a winning strategy and pulling through successfully bearing the scars yet victorious that the followers are proven right and honoured to have bestowed trust and faith in the leader.

No genuine follower of an authentic leader with a vision underlined by common beliefs and objectives wants to see their leader fail, they prop up the leader as best as they can in the face of difficulties, sometimes the only propping up possible is words of encouragement and messages
of solidarity reassuring the leader of faith in the leadership and support for the shared cause.
Strengthened by this, a leader can resolve to stand, pull themselves together and emerge stronger even after having gone through hellish experiences.
I am reminded of the conversation between Jesus and Peter;
Luke 22:31-32 KJV
[31] And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: [32] But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

The underlined  words speak to the leader who would come across challenges that seek to  sift the individual as wheat but bounce back stronger and able to strengthen those under them, the leader's brethren,the faith having failed not!
