BEYOND THE PAYCHECK & PROFIT SHARING - WHY WE SHOULD ALL TAKE A PEEK, IT'S WORTH LOOKING

BEYOND THE PAYCHECK AND THE PROFIT-SHARING - WHY WE SHOULD ALL TAKE A PEEK, IT'S WORTH LOOKING

Fact: Bills are paid with money, the goods we consume even the most basic ones are bought with money! Hence the necessity for all independent thinking individuals who attain legal age of majority to rise up daily and literally earn a living until they reach at least retirement age when this socio-economic obligation to earn a living gets relaxed.

In light of the above we are driven as people to pursue money with ruthless tenacity all  in a bid to secure a comfortable life and get out of the proverbial rat race, we pursue it even with vengeance for being elusive and denying us the good things of life we desire.

It is whilst we get lost in these   maddening pursuits and exploits in our various occupations that we lose the point of being alive and forefeit certain invaluable and priceless benefits of being in a work environment and belonging to a certain community with common objectives.

It has been said before that "if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life" One might go on and say " if your ultimate purpose for working is money, you will  work everyday of your life and every task will feel like an obstacle standing between you and your money!
However if we pause and peek beyond the paycheck and profit-sharing we catch a glimpse of fulfilment, satisfaction, inner joy, personal growth and happiness.
We realise our place in society and appreciate that there is more to work than the paychecks and profits, we are literally being productive citizens, playing our part in the socio-economic space, we are contributing and building society. The attitude and approach with which we face life changes completely! We realise that as a generation we inherited this world from preceding generations, our forebears. We therefore ought to pay it forward and bequeath it to the next generation better than we found it, after all the next generation  is our own children and who wouldn't want the best for their child?

By working to build, contribute and develop we improve everyday in all our various occupations and endeavours. Seeing ourselves grow
and improve brings us a sense of true accomplishment, a joy which a paycheck could never buy even for the richest of the rich, at the end of each day we retire with gratitude and fulfilment within.

We look forward to the next day with zeal and great expectations way before the paycheck arrives and the dividends are declared. The money arrives simply as compensation for the effort we would have put in and the time we would spent doing the work that we would have done. Money ceases to be the all-and-be-all thing we pursue with unhealthy passion every day and fail to amass as much as we would like because it leads to burnouts, nervous breakdowns, greed, bad rivalry among colleagues always jostling to rake in and record the highest numbers come what may.
Whichever way one looks at it life becomes boring everything is a grind.

Beyond the paycheck, our creativity is unleashed we go the extra mile for the love of our work without need for coercion and any form of undue influence.

Even as entrepreneurs, business owners and shareholders by looking beyond the profits and returns on our investments we realise that our role is to genuinely design, develop and deliver solutions to societal problems which people would not think twice about buying because their problem would have been solved. As an individual or organisation we would have positively contributed to the world at large as the multiplier effect of working with determination, passion and empathy takes effect. We stop looking at work and business with rigidly mechanical eyes of work and
resultant pay ending there and continuing the cycle until we can work no more.

As the title of this post suggests, we should all at least  take a peek beyond working only for the paycheck and doing business only for the profits because it is worth looking.
