HOW PASSIONATE & INTERESTED ARE WE WHEN WE RISE UP DAILY TO DO WHAT MUST BE DONE MEETING OUR RESPONSIBILITIES?

Passion and interest are two major determining factors in the quality and rate of delivering results in a manner of direct proportion. The more passion and interest we bring to our work and responsibilities results in more frequent results of better quality each time we get down to business.

These are two inherent personality traits which will only bear fruit and results by individual choice and decision, passion just like interest must ensue from one's conviction to follow a particular course of action. It cannot be wished upon a person to be interested in a task at hand, neither can an individual be coerced into being passionate about one's work.

Indifference, laziness and arrogance are common vices whose traits we exhibit as people when we are called upon to cooperate with others who depend on our contribution and work input. These traits stifle progress and make it difficult to achieve harmonious working environments.

Passion and interest by virtue of being characteristics of personal choice are results of self mastery and
continuous introspection. We have to keep evaluating our actions and methods at every turn against personal standards of best practice and excellence. We hold ourselves accountable before any external review or appraisal takes place to display our showing in our work.

There is beauty even in just observing a passionate individual carry on with their work, one realises the applied sense of ownership and unquestioned devotion. Upon fumbling and making a mistake the individual's pain is visible even on one's face, a resolve to do better and remedy the honest error kicks in automatically and once again the individual beams with joy and brims with confidence in delivering a job well done.

On the other hand it is agonisingly appalling to encounter an individual who has neither passion nor interest in the tasks presented to them. Indifference is a choice no matter how long a scroll of excuses one may bring up in defence of mediocrity veiled by arrogance and egotistic  pride. It is selfishness and laziness.

We are interdependent  social beings hence the need to realise that what goes around comes around, I may be at your service today and tomorrow you will be at mine. Therefore it behoves me to deliver good service to you to make it easier for you should I find myself needing your service although it is not guaranteed that you will cooperate, at least your conscience will appeal to you momentarily as you decide what to do with me as I stand needing your service, in the extreme I might be totally at your mercy and imagine what would go through your mind if I would have treated you with cold indifference and unresponsiveness before the reversal of the roles?

Honestly there is no telling what you would think as your emotions go on overdrive and the judge in you looks with contempt over me, by grace I might be fortunate to be met with favour by a meeker, bigger and better person who seeks not to repay evil with evil.

Passion for and in what we do is a positive element and ingredient for success, a person passionately interested in their tasks and responsibilities will inevitably get better and ultimately exceptional in the work that they do and the results they deliver. No matter how much the load increases and pressure applied one can always thrive under it and remain positive. Fatigue will certainly be experienced and rest required but it becomes sweet rest after packing a strong punch of one's passion and interest.

The paycheck does not even come close to the sweetness of achievement coming from passion and interest. To see a common goal
achieved and another person happy because of one's contribution is priceless, it's the perfect colouring and decoration of the tapestry of communal existence and team work.

Passion and interest are the difference maker between delivering results thereby  making a contribution and giving excuses and remaining mediocre thereby forfeiting opportunities to serve and get inner fulfillment, that priceless invaluable feeling and sense of accomplishment which humbles the individual and reveals the beauty of cooperation and collaboration among organisational teams and society in general.

It has been said that "if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life..." The sense and meaning of  that statement arise from the fact that when one throws passion and intrinsic interest to work the whole outlook changes, there is ownership of results and the will to succeed at individual level before even considering that the desired result might actually be an employer's organisational objective and expected outcome, certainly being mortal beings of flesh even if we love what we do, doing work uses up our energy and leaves us tired yet that fatigue coming from having been doing something with passion and total interest is sweet evidence of great hard earned victory, a feather on our cap.

It is the passionate and interested people throughout the ages who have changed the world for the better and left indelible marks of their
footprints as they did what they did, today we ask ourselves therefore; are we bringing the requisite passion and interest to our work everyday?
