DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE YOUR ULTIMATE BIG THING? - LEARN EVERY DAY, IMPROVE EVERY DAY!

The ultimate dream, the one big thing! It fascinates you more than anything, just the thought of it alone gives you a rush in the system. Alone with your thoughts with nobody watching you paint it so colourful and find yourself smiling and wondering if and when it will materialise considering the circumstances of where you are. The good news is yes! It can materialise and it will materialise if you do something about it every day no matter how little every intentional step towards it counts it's called direction and purpose.
Learn about your one thing everyday, each night when you put your head down on the pillow there must be something you can report to yourself having done towards that one thing.
Not only do we need to learn every day and every waking moment, we must also improve every day and put to work that which we would have learnt the days before otherwise the knowledge goes cold and becomes of little to no help for us. Knowledge is power if and only if we learn to use it effectively. Hence the need to improve every day. Sharpen the skill, refining the craft, increasing the efficiency of execution if one has already learnt the basics. It is not enough to learn the basics if one is to be great at what they love to do. One ought to go above and beyond to be great and be the best version of themselves. Even putting competition with other parties aside for a while, we first have to improve on our own, better our own performances increase our own efficiences from the previous ones.

There is a Japanese philosophy called Kaizen, in not so many words it literally means 'improvement'
Kaizen is all about continuous improvement of working practices, personal efficiency and knowing that there is alway room to do better. So it is possible after all to see that ultimate dream materialise by adopting the kaizen mentality and believing in ourselves knowing we are the product of the things we think and do every day no matter how small we may think they are. Time and effort is never lost to the person aware of themselves and their environment, even apparent setbacks due to material losses and other losses need not derail us from our daily way of improving in all that we do. It is true that we are not in charge of the number of days we shall live on this earth, however it is still wiser to make the best of each day as it comes and give our best performance compared to the previous one, that way our days end with fulfillment. Along the way we will most certainly be met with frustrations of one nature or another but we maintain focus and remind ourselves of the dream, we remind ourselves that we want today's performance to improve from yesterday's.

Anyone who has ever been named champion at anything be it sport, art, science, politics and business has no doubt found themselves having to repeat the same tasks over and over again to master them and increase efficiency with each take. The secret is to maintain the enthusiasm and never allow boredom and complacency to creep in. Imagine what it takes to run the one hundred metre sprint by the fastest man in the world who runs in seconds on competition day, that sprint is run over and over again many times on end, at the end of the day the athlete has run many kilometres cumulatively in preparation for just a few seconds on the track. They must never get bored with doing it over and over again because that's where the improvement comes from, that's where the learning takes place every day.
We are all no different from the athlete, the same principle applies. If you can define your ultimate goal, that one thing, your big thing then you can work on it every day, learn about it every day formally and informally whichever you have access to as long as you learn, there is no room and time for excuses.
Be not ashamed to ask for help, somebody once said "you lose nothing by getting a 'no', if you don't ask or try  you may never know what could have been"
If you get a 'no' you pull yourself  together and move on. Keep knocking and keep trying again learning from the previous experience as you go along.

That's continuous improvement, that's learning every day, that's becoming a better version of yourself every day, that's they way to achieving your one big thing!
