HOW GREAT WORKS OUTLIVE THE INDIVIDUAL AND ECHO INTO THE HALLWAYS, HILLS AND CORRIDORS OF THE FUTURE

HOW GREAT WORKS OUTLIVE THE INDIVIDUAL AND ECHO INTO THE HALLWAYS, HILLS AND CORRIDORS OF THE FUTURE

Quite often we hear and capture quoted statements of great men and women who once walked on this earth long after they are gone, their words continue to be passed on and inspire generations long after their time. Zooming into their lives through biographies and other
forms of research one learns that they were normal people yet they did extra ordinary things, one may ask how? The answer is because they identified a cause to live for and pursue, they put their minds to it and never looked back.

Great causes and great works emanate from compassion for the suffering of others, empathy, selflessness and being interested in solving problems that affect other people other than just yourself.
In some instances these solutions are commercialised and their owners make profits from selling them, be that as it may, the fact of the matter is that they change people's lives forever, because of the underlying compassion and empathy in inherent in their ideas these great men and women become benefactors and philanthropists because they still want to alleviate a fellow human being's suffering in one way or another.
In other instances the solutions and ideas are not tailored to be commercial but rather selfless voluntary work which grows and takes the form of NPOs and NGOs with particular objectives, some work in health delivery areas eradicating and controlling epidemic diseases, others in the education sectors to help the disadvantaged masses with literacy and numeracy, others still work in nutrition, drought and poverty alleviation. We may see the big all terrain vehicles criss crossing the villages and plains of  country sides in africa and not be aware that the work they do started as an idea in a compassionate ordinary man or woman's head and they rallied those around them to identify a worthy cause into which other like minded individuals could buy.

Once good ideas gain traction and get refined along the way they grow bigger than their parent, they become projects which attract cooperation and collaboration, the individual continues to share the vision guide its advancement and drive it forward but when it grows exponentially it is guaranteed to both outgrow and outlive them. The world becomes a better place throught the particular individual's contribution, the words they say are quoted and written down and passed on and on because they are the stuff of timeless wisdom, principles are never outdated they don't come in and out of fashion hence the lasting power such wisdom and exemplary work.
Waking up everyday to make a contribution and a difference through one's efforts leaves indelible impressions on those around us, one may not become a world famous quoted individual but it is still worthwhile to have one's words and work remembered fondly by one's children, family, friends, associates and acquaintances. It is always heartwarming to hear a child say "my father or my mother said this to me...." Or "my uncle taught me this when I was a child...." others would say "my teacher inspired snd guided me to become what I am today when I was young..."
Such statements are the echoes of honourable work and effort of men and women who consciously set out to be the best they could become in their lifetimes by contributing and building communities and society at large.

The quotes of fallen heroes we use and see from day to day are the echoes continuing to reverberate into the future because what they did and said grew bigger than them and outlived them, one therefore pauses to introspect and ask, " what worthy contribution am I making to humanity and the world, what do I want to be remembered for and what am I doing here and now towards that?"
