WHY WE MUST BEWARE OF COMPLACENCY - THE KILLER OF AMBITION AND HINDRANCE TO FRESH SUCCESS

WHY WE MUST BEWARE OF COMPLACENCY - THE KILLER OF AMBITION & HINDRANCE TO FRESH SUCCESS

Complacency creeps and sneaks in through the back doors of our minds. Slowly we lose our drive to push our limits and reach higher levels of performence, we feel comfortable with what we are currently  doing unaware of the diminishing returns from our efforts
due to our own reluctance to work harder and stay on top of our game.
There is always room for improvement even for the best among the best because innovation
never stops, new forms of organisation and methods are generated continually by players in various industrial, professional & social spaces. If we are complacent we will certainly be overtaken and left behind by all the innovation, before we know it we realise that what once seemed to be our comparatively lofty high standing and standard in our circles has gone several rungs down the ladder & we get a rude awakening to the tragedy as it plays out right in front of us, a tragedy of our own doing.
Failure is never fatal and success is never final to those who consciously determine to push and go beyond limits paying no respect to stereotypes and refusing to be dwarfed by old records understanding that the records can be broken simply because those who set them broke previously set records.
The feeling of fresh success is amazing, the thrill is totally exhilarating and gives us renewed confidence and casts our self belief
in hard stuff, the more we do it the hard stuff will definitely turn into stone.
A master sprinter athlete who is the epitome of speed oozes and bubbles with confidence even long before a race, whilst on the starting blocks and throughout the race itself. He is always seeking to improve on his own personal best time, do more and do better every time guarding against complacency, watching, following the capabilities and potential of new talent not only to measure their competitive ability against himself but to assess the level of and quality of work put in by peers in that space as a whole.
There is no room for complacency, there should be no back doors in our minds and system through which complacency may creep and sneak in. We are to be vigilant, alert and on guard always. Complacency kills ambition and what is life without ambition and aspiration? It's a waste of the precious gift of life because everyone ought to run the good race and fight the good fight using all the gifts and special talents bestowed upon them so that a good report is given of a life well lived and poured out for others through contributions made by fully exerting and applying oneself every day.
In old folklore a story is told of a race between a rabbit and a tortoise, given their natural physical make up and obvious abilities the race would  easily be a forgone conclusion right? However because
of wanting to conform and rely only on empirical evidence the rabbit lost the race because after having had a great take off and start thought it could rest on its laurels along the way and still beat the tortoise - grave mistake! What happened?? COMPLACENCY HAPPENED, that's what. The tortoise passed the sleeping rabbit along the way and won the race.
That is the danger of complacency and it's consequences can be dire, distressing and depressing because no matter how many times we look around with a finger to point and excuses to make it always stares us in the face and we have no one but ourselves to blame.
Every new day is an opportunity to fare better than the previous one, assess your day at its end, be grateful for your successes, acknowledge your errors of commission and omission then let it go. We must take on the new day with zeal and enthusiasm to give our best and apply ourselves as if it were our last, if it turns out to be the last one then a grand exit is just the way to go out right? If it's not then at it's end on review with our head on the pillow we can be happy that indeed we fared better than the previous day.
How's that for purposefulness? Complacency shut out! Zeal, enthusiasm, determination and passion locked in to be the driving members of our system.
Ambition must be sustained, fresh success no matter how small is good for us in every way, we become better people and the world a better place.
We therefore all have to beware of complacency lest we kill ourselves by this disease which we could immunise ourselves from by doing more and becoming more everyday because there is always room to improve.
