OVERCOMING OBSTACLES; DRAWING STRENGTH AND DIRECTION FROM PREVIOUS VICTORIES

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES; DRAWING STRENGTH AND DIRECTION FROM PREVIOUS VICTORIES

The second time around in any situation is never as scary as the first time, the difference maker - experience.
Experience is the best teacher, the expression may be old and a clichรฉ but it is as true as ever. The lessons are vital and the personal reference is valid for a lifetime.
One good method of overcoming obstacles in all circumstances is drawing strength and direction from previous victories. If one finds themselves in dire straits and wondering how to overcome stubborn obstacles it helps to pause for a moment and travel back in time in one's mind to those times when one achieved great victories and overcame what had initially seemed immovable and formidable obstacles. Recreate in the mind the prevailing atmosphere at that moment back in time, retrace the steps you took, identify the source of strength and encouragement at the time and bring it to the present moment. Map out that old path to victory in the present situation, quite often the method remains unchanged except for nuances owing to the passage of time. A little tweaking of the old step by step proces brings about the exact guide one needs to overcome a new obstacle.
For the sake of self belief and confidence it's okay to give oneself credit for sticking out and overcoming past challenges.

When athletes in both individual and team sports win grand finales, the crowning moments and lifting of trophies are photographed, recorded in video and written about by the best journalistic minds. These records are archived for many purposes including future reference as inspiration during dry spells when the very same individuals and teams find themselves struggling for form and focus. Reliving those experiences revives belief and instils hope and courage in the athletes.
It works the same way with overcoming individual obstacles and challenges, our past success  can be used to reinvigorate us and provide lessons for getting ahead amidst difficult obstacles.
Stand in front your trophy cabinet, pull out that award whatever it is for you that is relevant, maybe the best ever financials and results delivered by an organisation under your watch as leader.

As we grow up as people we all work our way to a victory from time to time. That process is ours to own and cherish. Vivid memories of past success can be to us what capacitors are to electrical components, they store charge, which is exactly what we need when we are faced with obstacles, we want to be able to draw from our storage and be charged to forge ahead to success. The success we attain will work again in the future when we need it as reference to do some more overcoming.
If we've overcome before we can overcome again by carefully and smartly channeling our efforts informed by our own lessons from past experience, we now know the gaps in what we are capable of and therefore are able to seek the exact kind of help we need from others in our network to fill the gaps and overcome our most challenging obstacles.
